| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to |
| 3 | | learn of the death of Reverend Paul D. Bandit of Moline, who |
| 4 | | passed away on April 25, 2017; and |
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Rev. Bendit was born in Chicago to Paul Sr. and |
| 6 | | Claudia Thoma Bendit on November 29, 1926; he attended music |
| 7 | | school in Chicago and graduated with a Master of Divinity from |
| 8 | | the Eden Theological Seminary in St. Louis on June 14, 1954; he |
| 9 | | was a veteran of the United States Army and proudly served in |
| 10 | | The Philippines; he married Ruth Sponsel in Hamilton, Ohio on |
| 11 | | September 26, 1954 and later married Ivola "Ivy" E. James |
| 12 | | Talbert in Moline on September 21, 2009; and
|
| 13 | | WHEREAS, Rev. Bendit served at United Church of Christ |
| 14 | | churches in Wells and Lester Prairie, Minnesota; Monticello, |
| 15 | | Iowa; Tiffin, Ohio; Lebanon, Indiana; Hartington, Nebraska; |
| 16 | | and Savannah; in Moline, he served as pastor and Sunday school |
| 17 | | teacher for United Church of Christ, and was a member of First |
| 18 | | United Presbyterian Church; and; and |
| 19 | | WHEREAS, Rev. Bendit enjoyed both indoor and outdoor |
| 20 | | gardening, square dancing, traveling, and listening to |
| 21 | | classical music; he enjoyed reading his theology book |
| 22 | | collection and liked fixing just about anything with his tools; |
