| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to |
| 3 | | learn of the death of Dale Eugene "Gene" Trimble of Newman, who |
| 4 | | passed away on April 26, 2017; and
|
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Dale Trimble was born in Jewett to Roy Orval and |
| 6 | | Belle Bishop Trimble on August 2, 1925; he attended school in |
| 7 | | Chrisman and then Newport, Indiana, where he started playing |
| 8 | | the trumpet; he moved to Newman during his junior year of high |
| 9 | | school and graduated from Newman High School in 1943; he |
| 10 | | married Ann McIntyre in Newman on November 20, 1949; and
|
| 11 | | WHEREAS, Dale Trimble was a farmer by occupation, but his |
| 12 | | love of music was his vocation and making music played a major |
| 13 | | role in his life; as a high school junior he started a dance |
| 14 | | band, "Gene Trimble's Orchestra", which was promoted as "The |
| 15 | | Midwest's Most Danceable Music"; his dance band traveled |
| 16 | | throughout Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Missouri, and |
| 17 | | Pennsylvania; and
|
| 18 | | WHEREAS, Dale Trimble operated the Newman Danceland |
| 19 | | Ballroom, which attracted dancers from miles away; another |
| 20 | | musical avenue was his clown band featured in parades, marinas, |
| 21 | | and parks and delighted crowds at the Illinois State Fair for |
| 22 | | 51 years; for decades, he donated his time playing "Taps" at |
