SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Mark A. Scott of Eureka, who passed away
4on May 2, 2017; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Mark Scott was born in Louisiana, Missouri to Rev.
6Dale and Marjorie Smiley Scott on September 23, 1960; he
7married Andrea Wilson in Eureka on September 29, 1984; and
 
8    WHEREAS, Mark Scott attended the Worsham College of
9Mortuary Science and began a career as a funeral director,
10serving for 20 years; he first worked for the Otto-Argo Funeral
11Home in Eureka before going to Davison-Fulton Woodland Chapel;
12he then worked for 15 years for the Irwin Chapel in Granite
13City; later, he began his career as a financial agent for
14Country Companies; he worked from his office in Eureka for the
15past 15 years, doing business as a Country Financial agent; and
 
16    WHEREAS, Mark Scott was very active in the Eureka
17community; he was an Eagle Scout, a member of Masonic Lodge
18Triple 835 in Granite City, and a Shriner; he served as a past
19member of the Kiwanis and was a former president of the PTA and
20the Eureka Area Swim Team; he was the president of the Eureka
21Rotary Club, a Eureka Business Association member, and served
22on the board at the Heart House in Eureka; and

1    WHEREAS, Mark Scott was a fan of the Green Bay Packers and
2the Chicago Cubs; he enjoyed vacations and game nights with his
3family and children; he loved to work in the yard and care for
4birds; he was a member of the Eureka Christian Church; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Mark Scott is survived by his wife, Andrea; his
6children, Alyssa (Galen) Rocke and Derek (Colleen Hogan) Scott;
7his sister, Melanie Shipp; his mother and father-in-law,
8Shirley and Gilbert Wilson; his sister-in-law, Chris (Ron)
9Schmidgall; his brother-in-law, Dean (Diana) Wilson; his pet
10dog, Tippy; and many nieces and nephews; therefore, be it
 
11    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL
12ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
13Mark A. Scott, and extend our sincere condolences to his
14family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
15further
 
16    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
17presented to the family of Mark Scott as an expression of our
18deepest sympathy.
