| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to |
| 3 | | learn of the death of June Charlotte Robinson of Chicago, who |
| 4 | | passed away on March 7, 2017 at the age of 101; and |
| 5 | | WHEREAS, June Robinson was born in Little Rock, Arkansas to |
| 6 | | Era and Lawrence Robinson on July 16, 1915; she attended |
| 7 | | Phillips High school in Chicago where she pursued a passion for |
| 8 | | music and was part of a noted singing group that began at that |
| 9 | | school; her interest in science and caring for people inspired |
| 10 | | her to enter a Practical Nursing program at Michael Reese |
| 11 | | Hospital, where she was licensed; and
|
| 12 | | WHEREAS, June Robinson accepted employment with the |
| 13 | | Veterans Administration, first at Edward Hines Jr. VA Hospital, |
| 14 | | and subsequently at the West Side VA, now known as Jesse Brown |
| 15 | | VA Medical Center, where she worked for over 30 years; and
|
| 16 | | WHEREAS, June Robinson was truly a master seamstress, |
| 17 | | sewing and sometimes designing clothes for her children, Vera |
| 18 | | and Loretta; and
|
| 19 | | WHEREAS, June Robinson was a member of St. John de la Salle |
| 20 | | parish
on Chicago's south side where she was once a member of |
| 21 | | the school board; she loved her many travels to the Holy Land |
