SENATE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to 
3learn of the death of Darrell F. Smith of Erie, who passed away 
4on April 26, 2017; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Darrell Smith was born in rural Erie to Harvey and 
6Iola (Halligan) Smith on October 13, 1929; he served in the 
7United States Army  until 1953 and married Esther E. Boykisky in 
8May of 1954; and
  
 
9    WHEREAS, Darrell Smith worked for International Harvester 
10until retiring after many years of faithful service; and
  
 
11    WHEREAS, Darrell Smith ran competitively for most of his 
12life; he was a former member of the American Legion; he enjoyed 
13going dancing with his wife and  was a loving family man; and

  
 
14    WHEREAS, Darrell Smith was preceded in death by his parents 
15and his sister, Marjorie; and
  
 
16    WHEREAS, Darrell Smith is survived by his wife, Esther; his 
17brother, Wesley (Opal) Smith; his sister, Mary Anne (James) 
18Snider; his sisters-in-law, Carol Blaylock and Mary Jane Kane; 
19and several nieces and nephews; therefore, be it

1    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL 
2ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of 
3Darrell F. Smith, and extend our sincere condolences to his 
4family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it 
5further
 
6    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
7presented to the family of Darrell Smith  as an expression of 
8our deepest sympathy.
