SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of David Reinhardt Wolf, who passed away on May 8, 2017; and

WHEREAS, David Wolf was born in Des Plaines to Reinhardt and Louise Wolf on January 2, 1931; he married Elizabeth Dobson in 1954; and

WHEREAS, David Wolf joined the Des Plaines Fire Department in 1952 as the fifth paid firefighter; he served as a United States Army firefighter in Zweibrucken, Germany from 1955 to 1957; he returned to the Des Plaines Fire Department, eventually retiring as deputy chief in 1975; he served as deputy chief of the Elk Grove Township Fire Department for its first two years and was a responder to the Flight 191 crash; and

WHEREAS, David Wolf was active in Des Plaines, serving with numerous organizations, including the American Legion, the First Congregational United Church of Christ choir, the Des Plaines Professional Firefighters Association IAFF Local 4211, the Lions Club, the Des Plaines Illinois Sesquicentennial Commission, the Des Plaines Historical Society, the Des Plaines Historical Landmarks Commission, the Des Plaines 1976 Bicentennial Commission, and the Clean Community Commission; he was president or chairman for most of these organizations and ran for mayor in 1973 and 1977; he retired to Lacon; and

WHEREAS, David Wolf is survived by his children, Karl Wolf, Kurt (Lauren) Wolf, Lisa (Richard) DeWitt, and Jonathan Wolf; his grandchildren, Keith, Kristopher, Kyle, Brian, and Melissa; and six great-grandchildren; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of David Reinhardt Wolf, and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of David Wolf as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
