SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of John Kazar Kazarian of Lake Forest, who passed away on April 15, 2017; and

WHEREAS, John Kazarian was born in Waukegan to Kazar and Mariam Kazarian on October 21, 1929; he graduated from Waukegan High School in 1945; he married Armina Elmas Bedrosian in Waukegan on June 16, 1951 and received his Juris Doctor from the University of Miami in 1952; and

WHEREAS, John Kazarian was a school principal and coach in Mundelein for over a decade; he launched a successful group of men's clothing stores in Waukegan and Vernon Hills and turned a corner candy store in Waukegan into a thriving business that enjoyed nearly 20 years of success; and

WHEREAS, John Kazarian enjoyed horse races, his daily visits to the health club for his walks, and holding court at the Starbucks in Lake Forest; he was affectionately known as "Poppa" to his grandchildren; and

WHEREAS, John Kazarian was preceded in death by his parents and his son, John Jr.; and

WHEREAS, John Kazarian is survived by his wife of over 65 years, Armina "Steffie"; his children, Stephanie (Brian) Kearney, Jacqueline (Peter Cunningham) Kazarian, Gregory (Kim) Kazarian, and Stacey (Jim) Lareau; his grandchildren, Kevin (Elizabeth) Kearney, Briana Kearney, Sima Cunningham, Liam Cunningham, John T. Kazarian, Alexandra Kazarian, Kenneth Kazarian, Samara Lareau, and Jackson Lareau; and his brother, Edward Norman Kazarian; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of John Kazar Kazarian, and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of John Kazarian as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
