2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to |
3 | | learn of the death of Dwayne E. Raney of Woodstock, who passed |
4 | | away on June 6, 2017; and |
5 | | WHEREAS, Dwayne Raney was born in Woodstock to Knute and |
6 | | Florence (Brott) Raney on November 19, 1930; he married |
7 | | Geraldine Labenski in Chicago on May 2, 1953;
he served in the |
8 | | United States Army during the Korean War; and
|
9 | | WHEREAS, Dwayne Raney served with the Parks and Recreation |
10 | | Department as president and chairman of The Youth Council; and
|
11 | | WHEREAS, Dwayne Raney was a member and past commander of |
12 | | VFW Post 5040 in Woodstock; he was also a member of Peter |
13 | | Umathum American Legion Post 412 and secretary for Cub Scout |
14 | | Pack 350; and |
15 | | WHEREAS, Dwayne Raney was an umpire for over 50 years for |
16 | | the Woodstock Little League and Girls Softball; he was given |
17 | | the honor of throwing out the first pitch at the Woodstock |
18 | | Little League opening day ceremonies at Merryman Fields on |
19 | | April 27, 2013; and
|
20 | | WHEREAS, Dwayne Raney was devoted to attending and singing |

1 | | at several churches in the community including First United |
2 | | Methodist Church, Saint Mary Catholic Church, and St. Ann's |
3 | | Episcopal Church; and
|
4 | | WHEREAS, Dwayne Raney was preceded in death by his parents; |
5 | | his wife, Geraldine Raney; his daughter, Laurie Raney; his |
6 | | brother, Kenneth Raney; his sister, Jeannette Bentz; his |
7 | | mother-in-law, Stella Labenski; his brother-in-law, Richard |
8 | | Labenski; and his longtime companion, Irene Brown; and
|
9 | | WHEREAS, Dwayne Raney is survived by his children, Steven |
10 | | (Diana) Raney, Catherine (Robert) Gillespie, and Karen Raney; |
11 | | his grandchildren, Amber (Josh) Sainer-Raney and Karen E. |
12 | | Gillespie; and his nephew, Ward "Woody" Wood; therefore, be it

13 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL |
14 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of |
15 | | Dwayne E. Raney, and extend our sincere condolences to his |
16 | | family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it |
17 | | further |
18 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be |
19 | | presented to the family of Dwayne Raney as an expression of our |
20 | | deepest sympathy.
