2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | ||||||
3 | learn of the death of Sheldon C. Bell of Plainfield, who passed | ||||||
4 | away on July 13, 2017; and
| ||||||
5 | WHEREAS, Sheldon Bell was born in Oswego to Dr. Sheldon F. | ||||||
6 | and Ellen P. (Lofdahl) Bell on May 2, 1934; he graduated from | ||||||
7 | Oswego High School in 1952 and Northern Illinois University in | ||||||
8 | 1957 with a degree in chemistry; he married Patricia F. Conner | ||||||
9 | on September 8, 1956; and
| ||||||
10 | WHEREAS, Sheldon Bell was president of Coldwell Banker | ||||||
11 | Bell, formerly Bell Realty, which was founded in 1960 by his | ||||||
12 | uncle, James C. Bell; he was president of the Will County Board | ||||||
13 | of Realtors from 1967 to 1968 and was named Illinois Realtor of | ||||||
14 | the Year in 1984; and | ||||||
15 | WHEREAS, Sheldon Bell served with the First National Bank | ||||||
16 | of Joliet Board of Directors, the Center For Economic | ||||||
17 | Development, and the Joliet Fire and Police Board; and
| ||||||
18 | WHEREAS, Sheldon Bell was a Master Mason at Raven Lodge 303 | ||||||
19 | in Oswego; he was a member of the Scottish Rite - Valley of | ||||||
20 | Chicago, the Shriner at Medinah Temple in Chicago, the Phi | ||||||
21 | Sigma Epsilon Fraternity, and Grace United Methodist Church; he |

1 | was an avid pilot; and
| ||||||
2 | WHEREAS, Sheldon Bell was preceded in death by his parents | ||||||
3 | and his great-granddaughter, Rose Sherman; and
| ||||||
4 | WHEREAS, Sheldon Bell is survived by his wife, Patricia; | ||||||
5 | his daughters, Kristin (Thomas) Mulvey, Melissa (Lloyd) | ||||||
6 | Meinhart, and Amy (Christopher) Dow; his grandchildren, Dr. | ||||||
7 | Megan (Dr. Darrin) Worthington, Patrick (Marika) Mulvey, | ||||||
8 | Lauren (Alec) Sherman, Conner (Rachel) Meinhart, Matthew | ||||||
9 | Meinhart, and Benjamin and Emily Dow; his | ||||||
10 | great-granddaughters, Grace, Claire, and Molly Worthington, | ||||||
11 | and Eleanor Sherman; his two sisters, Lynn (Frank) Simmons and | ||||||
12 | Justice Rita B. (late Gil) Garman; and several nieces and | ||||||
13 | nephews; therefore, be it

14 | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL | ||||||
15 | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | ||||||
16 | Sheldon C. Bell, and extend our sincere condolences to his | ||||||
17 | family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it | ||||||
18 | further

19 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
20 | presented to the family of Sheldon Bell as an expression of our | ||||||
21 | deepest sympathy.
