2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | ||||||
3 | learn of the death of Edward L. Campbell of Coal Valley, who | ||||||
4 | passed away on July 29, 2017; and
| ||||||
5 | WHEREAS, Edward Campbell was born in Rock Island to Gene G. | ||||||
6 | and Anna B. Janssens Campbell on July 17, 1946; he served in | ||||||
7 | the United States Army in Vietnam from 1967 to 1968 and married | ||||||
8 | Janice Washburn in Orion in 1969; he later married Delpha J. | ||||||
9 | Anderson Peterson in Las Vegas, Nevada on August 2, 1994; and
| ||||||
10 | WHEREAS, Edward Campbell was a skilled machinist with the | ||||||
11 | Case Corporation in Rock Island; when the plant closed, he | ||||||
12 | attended Black Hawk College as a student of labor studies and | ||||||
13 | began his own trucking company, C & C Trucking and Son Inc. in | ||||||
14 | Coal Valley; he returned to CNH Global Case-IH in East Moline, | ||||||
15 | retiring in 1997 after 31 years of employment; and
| ||||||
16 | WHEREAS, Edward Campbell was a lifetime member of the | ||||||
17 | Disabled American Veterans; he was a member of Local 1304 | ||||||
18 | United Auto Workers (UAW) in East Moline; he was a former | ||||||
19 | member of Rock Island 806 UAW, where he served on several | ||||||
20 | committees and in several officer positions including, | ||||||
21 | financial secretary and vice-president, and represented the | ||||||
22 | local UAW in Washington, D.C. in the 1970s and 1980s; and |

1 | WHEREAS, Edward Campbell designed and installed the solar | ||||||
2 | and wind power for his family's home and motor home; when he | ||||||
3 | retired, he enjoyed traveling in their motor home with his | ||||||
4 | wife, Delpha, and spending winters in California with their | ||||||
5 | friends; and
| ||||||
6 | WHEREAS, Edward Campbell was preceded in death by his | ||||||
7 | parents and his brother, Donald; and
| ||||||
8 | WHEREAS, Edward Campbell is survived by his wife, Delpha; | ||||||
9 | his children, Kelly Campbell and Bryan (Kimberly) Campbell; his | ||||||
10 | stepchildren, Lisa (Dion) Perkins and Doug (Lindsey) Peterson; | ||||||
11 | his grandchildren, Cassidy Campbell, Mia Campbell, Cameron | ||||||
12 | Campbell, Parker Campbell, Tevin Robbins, Aaliyah Perkins, | ||||||
13 | Raine Peterson, and Mavrik Peterson; his great-granddaughter, | ||||||
14 | Maya Sanchez-Robbins; his brother, Richard (Glenda) Campbell; | ||||||
15 | and many nieces and nephews; therefore, be it

16 | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL | ||||||
17 | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | ||||||
18 | Edward L. Campbell, and extend our sincere condolences to his | ||||||
19 | family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it | ||||||
20 | further

21 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be |
