| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to |
| 3 | | learn of the death of Barbara Yvonne "Rabbit" Oliver, who |
| 4 | | passed away on August 8, 2017; and
|
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Barbara Oliver was born in Chicago to Earl and Eva |
| 6 | | Wallace on August 6, 1948; she was baptized at an early age and |
| 7 | | was a member of Holy Family Church in Chicago; she attended |
| 8 | | Crane High School and was professionally trained as a vocalist |
| 9 | | at Harold Washington College; she majored in early childhood |
| 10 | | development at Roosevelt University, which led to a teaching |
| 11 | | position at the ABLA Day Care Center; she married John Quincy |
| 12 | | Oliver Jr. on May 11, 1968; and
|
| 13 | | WHEREAS, Barbara Oliver had a natural artistic flare, which |
| 14 | | was evident in her poetry, still life artwork, and murals; she |
| 15 | | designed custom greeting cards and logos; she taught herself |
| 16 | | how to play the piano while also inspiring children to do the |
| 17 | | same; she had a great love of children and dreamed of being a |
| 18 | | foster parent; and
|
| 19 | | WHEREAS, Barbara Oliver was kind, patient, understanding, |
| 20 | | caring, nurturing, and supportive; and
|
| 21 | | WHEREAS, Barbara Oliver was preceded in death by her |
