| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to |
| 3 | | learn of the death of James Francis "Jim" Kammer, who passed |
| 4 | | away on May 31, 2017; and
|
| 5 | | WHEREAS, James Kammer was born in Freeport to Eliza J. |
| 6 | | (Schauer) and Ernest Kammer on December 19, 1943; he attended |
| 7 | | Freeport schools and his favorite and most influential |
| 8 | | experience while growing up was working with his father on the |
| 9 | | Illinois Central Railroad; he entered Northwestern University |
| 10 | | in 1961; he attended medical school at the University of |
| 11 | | Illinois, where he met his wife, Barbara, graduating in 1969; |
| 12 | | and
|
| 13 | | WHEREAS, James Kammer performed his residency in |
| 14 | | ophthalmology with the Illinois Eye and Ear Infirmary, |
| 15 | | finishing in 1973; he received a Master of Business Arts and a |
| 16 | | Juris Doctor from the University of Illinois, where he was |
| 17 | | inducted into Phi Kappa Phi; he practiced in Florida and then |
| 18 | | Decatur; he served as an examiner for the American Board of |
| 19 | | Ophthalmology; and

| 20 | | WHEREAS, James Kammer had a love of politics and was a |
| 21 | | delegate to the 2016 Republican National Convention; he also |
| 22 | | had a love of history and enjoyed gaining new insights into |
