| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to |
| 3 | | learn of the death of Joseph R. Mendoza of Rock Island, who |
| 4 | | passed away on September 5, 2017; and
|
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Joseph Mendoza was born in Moline to Demetrio and |
| 6 | | Juanita Mata Mendoza on March 13, 1929; he married Josephine G. |
| 7 | | Arguello in Bettendorf on May 31, 1958; and
|
| 8 | | WHEREAS, Joseph Mendoza served in the United States Army |
| 9 | | and was a veteran of the Korean War; following his military |
| 10 | | service, he was employed at John Deere Harvester Works in East |
| 11 | | Moline for 32 years; he was a member of the United Auto Workers |
| 12 | | Local 865; and
|
| 13 | | WHEREAS, Joseph Mendoza enjoyed vegetable gardening, |
| 14 | | cooking, playing cards, listening to Mexican music, taking |
| 15 | | scenic drives, and traveling to California, Las Vegas, and the |
| 16 | | casinos; he dedicated his life to caring for his family, |
| 17 | | especially his son, Matthew; he will be fondly remembered as a |
| 18 | | loving husband, father, and grandfather; and
|
| 19 | | WHEREAS, Joseph Mendoza was preceded in death by his |
| 20 | | parents; his siblings, Josephine Morales, Inez Morales, |
| 21 | | Phillip Mendoza, Frances Herrera, Lupe Martinez, and Maria |
