SENATE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to 
3learn of the death of Francisco Cruz Sr. of Rock Island, who 
4passed away on September 10, 2017; and
  
 
5    WHEREAS, Francisco Cruz was born in Rio Piedras, Puerto 
6Rico to Manual Cruz and Felicia Velazquez on October 1, 1954; 
7and
  
 
8    WHEREAS, Francisco Cruz served 11 years in the United 
9States Air Force as an aircraft electrician and then 
10transferred to the Department of Defense working at Corpus 
11Christi Naval Air Station and Rock Island Arsenal; and
  
 
12    WHEREAS, Francisco Cruz was active in his church and served 
13the community through outreach and by playing the guitar on the 
14worship team; he loved his family, fishing, and baseball; he 
15showed respect to everyone he met; he left a loving legacy that 
16will live on in his children and grandchildren; and
  
 
17    WHEREAS, Francisco Cruz was preceded in death by his 
18parents; his brothers, Juan and William; his sisters, Isabel 
19and Estervia; and his son, Manuel; and
  
 
20    WHEREAS, Francisco Cruz is survived by his wife of 39

1years, Bonnie; his daughter, Andrea (Gilbert) Gallegos; his 
2son, Francisco (Tara) Cruz Jr.; his grandchildren, Emma, 
3Ysabella, Christian, Benicio, Ashton, Noah, Luca, Isaiah, and 
4Luis; his brother, Marcelino (Noemi) Cruz; and his sisters, 
5Georgia Perez and Margarita Rivera; therefore, be it
  
 
6    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL 
7ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of 
8Francisco Cruz Sr., and extend our sincere condolences to his 
9friends, family, and all who knew and loved him; and be it 
10further
  
 
11    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
12presented to the family of Francisco Cruz as an expression of 
13our deepest sympathy.
