SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Mary A. Ulrich of Peoria, who passed away on October 8, 2017; and

WHEREAS, Mary Ulrich was born in Peoria to Glen and Daisy (Smith) Horr on May 8, 1936; she graduated from Canton High School and attended Midstate College; she was a Certified Financial Administrator and a Certified Municipal Illinois Treasurer; she married Harry L. Ulrich in Indiana in 1963; and

WHEREAS, Mary Ulrich was the manager of the Peoria City Employees Credit Union; she then worked as the City Treasurer and was proud of the way she grew the Firemen's Pension for the City of Peoria; and

WHEREAS, Mary Ulrich was active on the Board of the Boys and Girls Club of America; she was a past President of the National Treasurers Association, a past Director of the Municipal Treasurers Association of the United States and Canada, the Proclamation President of the Municipal Association, and a member of the Illinois Municipal Treasurers Association; she received a Trustee Program Certificate of Completion, as well as a special service award for her achievements and commitment; she was also awarded the Charlotte Danstrom Women of Achievement Award from Women in Management, Inc.; and

WHEREAS, Mary Ulrich was a member of the Living Waters Lutheran Church in Peoria; she enjoyed traveling Europe, spending Saturday nights watching movies with her girlfriends, volunteering, collecting angels, and hosting Christmas Eve for her family; and

WHEREAS, Mary Ulrich was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Harry; her daughter, Jean Johnson; her son, Mitch Ulrich; her brother, Bobby Horr; and her sisters, Wanda Vanardi and Jean Nebergall; and

WHEREAS, Mary Ulrich is survived by her sons, Harry (Cheryl) Ulrich and Rick (Cathy) Ulrich; her grandchildren, Bonnie (Mark) Meinders, Robert (Jessica) Johnson, Matthew Ulrich, Jillian (Christopher) Hansen, Jessica (Eric) Force, Rachel (JF) Ferretti, Robert Kessler, Rick (Crystal) Ulrich, and Katelynn Kessler; her numerous great-grandchildren; and her sisters, Elizabeth Newton and Judy (Don) Woodcock; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Mary A. Ulrich and extend our sincere condolences to her family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Mary Ulrich as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
