SENATE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to 
3learn of the death of Ericka Jennifer Smith of Crystal Lake, 
4who passed away on October 7, 2017; and
  
 
5    WHEREAS, Ericka Smith was born to Mike and Toddi (Baseley) 
6Conway on April 9, 1971; she was the first member of her family 
7to graduate from college; she earned her bachelor's degree from 
8Northeast Missouri State University and her master's degree 
9from National Lewis University, where she graduated with 
10honors; she married Eric Smith in Crystal Lake on December 5, 
111998; and
  
 
12    WHEREAS, Ericka Smith's passion was the English language; 
13she was an expert storyteller and was able to challenge her 
14audience's perspective and make them laugh out loud; and
  
 
  
15    WHEREAS, Ericka Smith was preceded in death by her maternal 
16grandparents, Claude and Mary Baseley; her paternal 
17grandmother, Leona Conway; and her aunt, Lynne Donarski; and
  
 
18    WHEREAS, Ericka Smith is survived by her husband of 18 
19years, Eric; her pride and joy, Keegan Kathe; her parents, Mike 
20and Toddi Conway; her sister, Katie (Joe) Sharp; her nieces, 
21Lilly, Maggie, and Abby; and her in-laws, Charles and Gerda

2    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL 
3ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of 
4Ericka Jennifer Smith and extend our sincere condolences to her 
5family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it 
6further
  
 
7    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
8presented to the family of Ericka Smith as an expression of our 
9deepest sympathy.
