|
2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to |
3 | | learn of the death of Allison "Al" Perring Jr. of Clinton, who |
4 | | passed away on September 27, 2017; and
|
5 | | WHEREAS, Al Perring was born in Midland City to Allison Sr. |
6 | | and Margaret Cox Perring on August 19, 1931; he married Jean |
7 | | Gehlbach in Waynesville on December 29, 1950; and
|
8 | | WHEREAS, Al Perring served in the United States Army and |
9 | | was a veteran of the Korean War; after his military service, he |
10 | | returned to Central Illinois and began a life of farming; even |
11 | | though he faced his share of crop losses, machinery breakdowns, |
12 | | and wide fluctuations in market prices, he never questioned his |
13 | | decision, and he never thought of being anything other than a |
14 | | farmer; throughout his career, he maintained a positive |
15 | | attitude and an optimistic outlook on the future of farming; |
16 | | and
|
17 | | WHEREAS, Al Perring's optimism caught the attention of the |
18 | | Salute to Agriculture Program, and he was a finalist for their |
19 | | Farmer of the Year Award; and
|
20 | | WHEREAS, Al Perring was active as a community volunteer and |
21 | | leader, which included positions as the DeWitt County |
|

1 | | Republican Party Chairman, the Deland Weldon School Board |
2 | | President, and the Nixon Township supervisor; he was a 4-H |
3 | | leader and a Little League coach and official; he was a 33rd |
4 | | degree Mason; and
|
5 | | WHEREAS, Al Perring enjoyed discussing politics, family, |
6 | | farming, and Fighting Illini sports; he was a loving husband, |
7 | | father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend |
8 | | whose legacy lives on through his family and community; and
|
9 | | WHEREAS, Al Perring was preceded in death by his parents; |
10 | | his four brothers; and his sisters; and
|
11 | | WHEREAS, Al Perring is survived by his wife of 66 years, |
12 | | Jean; his children, David Perring, Steve (Lee Ann) Perring, and |
13 | | Kathy (Ted) Parge; his six grandchildren; his eight |
14 | | great-grandchildren and one on the way; and his sister-in-law, |
15 | | Phyllis Perring; therefore, be it

16 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL |
17 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of |
18 | | Allison "Al" Perring Jr. and extend our sincere condolences to |
19 | | his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it |
20 | | further
