2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to |
3 | | learn of the death of Anne E. DeDobbelaere of Elgin, who passed |
4 | | away on October 24, 2017; and
|
5 | | WHEREAS, Anne DeDobbelaere was born in Elgin to Bob and |
6 | | Maureen (Sullivan) DeDobbelaere on March 17, 1960; she |
7 | | graduated from the Bartlett Learning Center in 1981; and
|
8 | | WHEREAS, Anne DeDobbelaere worked as a bagger at |
9 | | Jewel-Osco, where she never missed a day of work in 28 years; |
10 | | and
|
11 | | WHEREAS, Anne DeDobbelaere was a decorated Special |
12 | | Olympics athlete; she started track and field at age nine and |
13 | | competed in the 1979 Special Olympics World Summer Games when |
14 | | she was 18; she won a gold medal, two silver medals, and a |
15 | | bronze medal in cross-country skiing at the 2001 World Winter |
16 | | Games in Alaska; she amassed hundreds of medals for competing |
17 | | in basketball, volleyball, aquatics, rhythmic gymnastics, |
18 | | softball, and cross-country skiing at national and |
19 | | international events; and

20 | | WHEREAS, Anne DeDobbelaere was the Grand Marshall of the |
21 | | Elgin 4th of July parade in 2001; she was the recipient of the |
