| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to |
| 3 | | learn of the death of John Alan "Al" "Doc" Lewin of |
| 4 | | Springfield, who passed away on October 28, 2017; and
|
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Al Lewin was born in Kankakee to Robert F. "Bud" |
| 6 | | and Priscilla L. Hardy Lewin on December 13, 1957; he graduated |
| 7 | | from Cullom High School in 1976 and then from the University of |
| 8 | | Illinois firefighting school; he married Donna R. Hillyard on |
| 9 | | April 12, 1985; and
|
| 10 | | WHEREAS, Al Lewin spent his career teaching and training |
| 11 | | others in the emergency medical field; he retired from the |
| 12 | | Illinois State Police after 32 years of service; he worked for |
| 13 | | Dunn's Ambulance Service, Auburn Area Ambulance, and American |
| 14 | | Ambulance; he served on both the Cullom and Divernon Fire |
| 15 | | Departments; currently, he was employed as the Emergency |
| 16 | | Medical Services Educator at St. John's Hospital; and
|
| 17 | | WHEREAS, Al Lewin was dedicated to helping others, whether |
| 18 | | it was giving a pep talk or assisting during a medical |
| 19 | | emergency; he never met a stranger and made it a daily goal to |
| 20 | | bring a smile to others; his dedication to the Emergency |
| 21 | | Medical Services world brought a wealth of knowledge to those |
| 22 | | he taught or served with; he saved countless lives; he was a |
