SENATE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to 
3learn of the death of Dr. Elizabeth "Betty" Robey of 
4Litchfield, who passed away on October 1, 2017; and
  
 
5    WHEREAS, Dr. Robey was born  in Litchfield to Walter 
6Lawrence and Mary Frances (Burke) Bishop on March 26, 1927; she 
7graduated from Litchfield Community High School in 1944; she 
8received her bachelor's degree in education from the University 
9of Arkansas and later her master's degree; she obtained her 
10doctorate from Florida State University; and
  
 
11    WHEREAS, Dr. Robey taught elementary classes at Benld 
12Elementary Grade School for Gillespie Community Unit School 
13District #7 starting in August 1973; she retired in 1992; and
 
14    WHEREAS, After retiring,  Dr. Robey was a devoted care giver 
15to her mother and aunt, Rose; she was a member of St. Timothy 
16United Methodist Church in Litchfield; and
  
 
17    WHEREAS, Dr. Robey was sister to the late Dr. Walter L. 
18"Chick" (Hester) Bishop Jr.; and
  
 
19    WHEREAS, Dr. Robey was preceded in death by her parents; 
20her brother, Colonel Thomas Bishop; and her sister, Mary Lou

2    WHEREAS, Dr. Robey is survived by her sister, Judith (Dr. 
3Eric) Strohmeyer; nine nieces; nine nephews; and several 
4great-nieces and nephews; therefore, be it
  
 
5    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL 
6ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of 
7Dr. Elizabeth "Betty" Robey, and extend our sincere condolences 
8to her family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be 
9it further
  
 
10    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
11presented to  the family of  Dr. Robey as an expression of our 
12deepest sympathy.
