SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Metropolitan Water Reclamation District
4of Greater Chicago Commissioner Timothy Bradford, who passed
5away on December 1, 2017; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Commissioner Bradford was a Chicago native and
7graduated from Crane High School, where he was an athlete; and
 
8    WHEREAS, Commissioner Bradford began his professional
9journey at Quaker Oats in a managerial position, where he
10stayed for 25 years; he later established himself as an
11entrepreneur with an interest in a Miller Beer Distributorship
12in St. Louis, Missouri; he also owned Docks Fish, a popular
13food franchise; his success in the field of sales and marketing
14forged his path as a dedicated leader in the south suburban
15political community and the Democratic Party; and
 
16    WHEREAS, Commissioner Bradford later served as
17Administrator at Rich Township; and
 
18    WHEREAS, Commissioner Bradford was elected to the
19Metropolitan Water Reclamation District Board of Commissioners
20in 2014 and served as Chairman of the Ethics and Federal
21Legislation Committees; he was also the Vice Chairman of the

1Maintenance and Operations and Monitoring and Research
2Committees; and
 
3    WHEREAS, Commissioner Bradford volunteered on the boards
4of numerous civic and business organizations, including the
5Rich High School District 227 Advisory Board, the Great Lakes
6Bank Advisory Board in Matteson, and was the Club President of
7the Rotary International Club; he also coached youth basketball
8for many years; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Commissioner Bradford served 30 years as an
10elected member of the Olympia Fields Park District Board and
11served three terms as president; he received many awards,
12including the Eagle Award for 30 years of service to the
13Olympia Fields Park District, the Hero's Award from the Village
14of Olympia Fields, and the Diversity Award from Diversity,
15Incorporated; the Matteson Business Association honored him
16for becoming an elected official; he was a dedicated public
17servant, advocate for the environment, mentor to some, and
18friend to many; and
 
19    WHEREAS, Commissioner Bradford was preceded in death by his
20child, Shance; and
 
21    WHEREAS, Commissioner Bradford is survived by his wife of
22more than 50 years, Mary Ann; his children, Cherise, Corey, and

1Ty; and his grandchildren, Bryce, Blaine, Chase, Ryder, Blake,
2Aiden, Talon, and Nya; therefore, be it
 
3    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL
4ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
5Metropolitan Water Reclamation District of Greater Chicago
6Commissioner Timothy Bradford and extend our sincere
7condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved
8him; and be it further
 
9    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
10presented to the family of Commissioner Bradford as an
11expression of our deepest sympathy.
