| 1 | SENATE RESOLUTION
| ||||||
| 2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | ||||||
| 3 | learn of the death of Metropolitan Water Reclamation District | ||||||
| 4 | of Greater Chicago Commissioner Timothy Bradford, who passed | ||||||
| 5 | away on December 1, 2017; and
| ||||||
| 6 | WHEREAS, Commissioner Bradford was a Chicago native and | ||||||
| 7 | graduated from Crane High School, where he was an athlete; and
| ||||||
| 8 | WHEREAS, Commissioner Bradford began his professional | ||||||
| 9 | journey at Quaker Oats in a managerial position, where he | ||||||
| 10 | stayed for 25 years; he later established himself as an | ||||||
| 11 | entrepreneur with an interest in a Miller Beer Distributorship | ||||||
| 12 | in St. Louis, Missouri; he also owned Docks Fish, a popular | ||||||
| 13 | food franchise; his success in the field of sales and marketing | ||||||
| 14 | forged his path as a dedicated leader in the south suburban | ||||||
| 15 | political community and the Democratic Party; and
| ||||||
| 16 | WHEREAS, Commissioner Bradford later served as | ||||||
| 17 | Administrator at Rich Township; and
| ||||||
| 18 | WHEREAS, Commissioner Bradford was elected to the | ||||||
| 19 | Metropolitan Water Reclamation District Board of Commissioners | ||||||
| 20 | in 2014 and served as Chairman of the Ethics and Federal | ||||||
| 21 | Legislation Committees; he was also the Vice Chairman of the | ||||||

| |||||||
| 1 | Maintenance and Operations and Monitoring and Research | ||||||
| 2 | Committees; and
| ||||||
| 3 | WHEREAS, Commissioner Bradford volunteered on the boards | ||||||
| 4 | of numerous civic and business organizations, including the | ||||||
| 5 | Rich High School District 227 Advisory Board, the Great Lakes | ||||||
| 6 | Bank Advisory Board in Matteson, and was the Club President of | ||||||
| 7 | the Rotary International Club; he also coached youth basketball | ||||||
| 8 | for many years; and
| ||||||
| 9 | WHEREAS, Commissioner Bradford served 30 years as an | ||||||
| 10 | elected member of the Olympia Fields Park District Board and | ||||||
| 11 | served three terms as president; he received many awards, | ||||||
| 12 | including the Eagle Award for 30 years of service to the | ||||||
| 13 | Olympia Fields Park District, the Hero's Award from the Village | ||||||
| 14 | of Olympia Fields, and the Diversity Award from Diversity, | ||||||
| 15 | Incorporated; the Matteson Business Association honored him | ||||||
| 16 | for becoming an elected official; he was a dedicated public | ||||||
| 17 | servant, advocate for the environment, mentor to some, and | ||||||
| 18 | friend to many; and
| ||||||
| 19 | WHEREAS, Commissioner Bradford was preceded in death by his | ||||||
| 20 | child, Shance; and
| ||||||
| 21 | WHEREAS, Commissioner Bradford is survived by his wife of | ||||||
| 22 | more than 50 years, Mary Ann; his children, Cherise, Corey, and | ||||||
| |||||||

| 1 | Ty; and his grandchildren, Bryce, Blaine, Chase, Ryder, Blake, | ||||||
| 2 | Aiden, Talon, and Nya; therefore, be it
| ||||||
| 3 | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL | ||||||
| 4 | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | ||||||
| 5 | Metropolitan Water Reclamation District of Greater Chicago | ||||||
| 6 | Commissioner Timothy Bradford and extend our sincere | ||||||
| 7 | condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved | ||||||
| 8 | him; and be it further
| ||||||
| 9 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
| 10 | presented to the family of Commissioner Bradford as an | ||||||
| 11 | expression of our deepest sympathy.
