SENATE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to 
3learn of the death of William H. "Bill" Dowden Jr., who passed 
4away on December 20, 2017; and
  
 
5    WHEREAS, Bill Dowden was born in Waukegan on December 9, 
61924; he graduated from  Waukegan Township High School and 
7served in the United States Army Air Corps in England during 
8World War II; he graduated from the Milwaukee School of 
9Engineering; and
  
 
10    WHEREAS, Bill Dowden was a manager of the IBM Corporation 
11in Chicago for 35 years; and
  
 
12    WHEREAS, Bill Dowden was a member of Sharvin American 
13Legion Post #397 in North Chicago and a life member and past 
14master of Waukegan Lodge #78; he was a member of the Christ 
15Episcopal Church in Waukegan, where he served as an acolyte for 
1659 years and was part of the Vestry, the Men's Club, and the 
17Men's Christ Care Group; he was a life member of the Valley of 
18Chicago Scottish Rite Masons and the Tebala Shrine Temple in 
19Rockford; he was Director Emeritus of the Waukegan Motor 
20Patrol; and
  
 
  
21    WHEREAS, Bill Dowden is survived by his beloved wife, Norma

1Jane (Totterdell) Dowden; his son, Douglas (Iris) Dowden; his 
2daughter, Linda (Brian) Nelson; his  grandchildren, Michael 
3(Stephanie) Collins-Dowden and Emily Dowden, and Erik, Andrew, 
4and Amy Nelson; his great-grandson, Rhys Collins-Dowden; his 
5sister, Elizabeth (William) Potochnik; and several nieces and 
6nephews; therefore, be it
  
 
7    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL 
8ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of 
9William H. "Bill" Dowden Jr., and extend our sincere 
10condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved 
11him; and be it further
  
 
12    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
13presented to  the family of  Bill Dowden as an expression of our 
14deepest sympathy.
