SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Gerald Brown of Moline, who passed away
4on December 29, 2017; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Gerald Brown was born in Champaign to Estel and
6Dorcas (Davis) Brown on November 13, 1950 and he lived in
7Gibson City with his family until 1966 when they moved to
8Moline; he graduated from Moline High School and served in the
9U.S. Army from 1969 until 1970; he earned an associate's degree
10on the G.I. Bill from Black Hawk College and married Lori
11Bowling on September 19, 1992; and
 
12    WHEREAS, As a young boy, Gerald Brown started working for
13farmers in Gibson City; he retired from Case-IH in East Moline
14in 2003, where he was a production welder; he then worked for
15John Deere Planter Works as a welder until 2010; and
 
16    WHEREAS, Gerald Brown was a skilled fisherman and hunter
17and a talented singer and guitar player; he performed in
18numerous groups through a 40-year span and composed and
19performed "East Moline Blues", a viral YouTube video; he had
20many friends and could usually be found at the Hard Times Bar
21in Moline during the afternoon; he was a member of American
22Legion Post 246; and

1    WHEREAS, Gerald Brown was preceded in death by his wife,
2Lori; his parents; his brother, Dick; and his sisters, Jacqui
3and Cindy; and
 
4    WHEREAS, Gerald Brown is survived by his son, Mark
5(Tiffany) Willard; his daughter, Tara Willard; his brother,
6Randy (Debbie) Brown; his sister, Debbie (Mark) Rodgers; his
7sister-in-law, Barb Brown; his granddaughters, Madison and Mya
8Willard; and numerous nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends;
9therefore, be it
 
10    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL
11ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
12Gerald Brown, and extend our sincere condolences to his family,
13friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further
 
14    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
15presented to the family of Gerald Brown as an expression of our
16deepest sympathy.
