2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to |
3 | | learn of the death of Joan Drew Rogers, who passed away on |
4 | | December 17, 2017; and
|
5 | | WHEREAS, Joan Rogers was born to James and Florence |
6 | | (Powers) Drew on November 25, 1930; she grew up in Springfield |
7 | | and graduated from Sacred Heart High School; she attended |
8 | | Joliet Junior College; she married John R. Rogers at St. |
9 | | Ferdinand Catholic Church in Chicago on June 18, 1955; and
|
10 | | WHEREAS, Joan Rogers and her husband relocated to Joliet, |
11 | | where she was active in the Sacred Heart Parish; she served on |
12 | | several committees and helped start their soup kitchen; and
|
13 | | WHEREAS, Joan Rogers was a member of the Joliet Women's |
14 | | Club and served as President of the Women of Rotary of Joliet; |
15 | | she received the De La Salle award from Lewis University; and
|
16 | | WHEREAS, Joan Rogers was preceded in death by her parents; |
17 | | her sisters, Elinor Maurer and Louise O'Connor; and her |
18 | | brother, James Drew; and
|
19 | | WHEREAS, Joan Rogers is survived by her husband, John |
20 | | "Jack" Rogers; her children, John (Sue Swider) Rogers, Maureen |

14 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of |
15 | | Joan Drew Rogers and extend our sincere condolences to her |
16 | | family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it |
17 | | further

19 | | presented to the family of Joan Rogers as an expression of our |
