SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Joan Drew Rogers, who passed away on
4December 17, 2017; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Joan Rogers was born to James and Florence
6(Powers) Drew on November 25, 1930; she grew up in Springfield
7and graduated from Sacred Heart High School; she attended
8Joliet Junior College; she married John R. Rogers at St.
9Ferdinand Catholic Church in Chicago on June 18, 1955; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Joan Rogers and her husband relocated to Joliet,
11where she was active in the Sacred Heart Parish; she served on
12several committees and helped start their soup kitchen; and
 
13    WHEREAS, Joan Rogers was a member of the Joliet Women's
14Club and served as President of the Women of Rotary of Joliet;
15she received the De La Salle award from Lewis University; and
 
16    WHEREAS, Joan Rogers was preceded in death by her parents;
17her sisters, Elinor Maurer and Louise O'Connor; and her
18brother, James Drew; and
 
19    WHEREAS, Joan Rogers is survived by her husband, John
20"Jack" Rogers; her children, John (Sue Swider) Rogers, Maureen

11nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews; therefore,

13    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL
14ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
15Joan Drew Rogers and extend our sincere condolences to her
16family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it
17further
 
18    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
19presented to the family of Joan Rogers as an expression of our
20deepest sympathy.
