2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to |
3 | | learn of the death of John T. "Jack" Tierney, who passed away |
4 | | on January 10, 2018; and
|
5 | | WHEREAS, Jack Tierney graduated from St. Ignatius High |
6 | | School and attended Lewis College before joining the United |
7 | | States Marine Corps and serving during the Korean War; he |
8 | | married Beverly Basso; and
|
9 | | WHEREAS, Jack Tierney was a longtime worker for the City of |
10 | | Chicago in Public Works as a hoisting engineer; he was a member |
11 | | of International Union Of Operating Engineers
Local 150; and
|
12 | | WHEREAS, Jack Tierney was a loyal member of the Knights of |
13 | | Columbus; he Loved Tuesday lunch "with the boys" at Doc Ryan's; |
14 | | and |
15 | | WHEREAS, Love found Jack Tierney a second time through his |
16 | | long-time partner, Christine Costanzo; he "adopted" her family |
17 | | with love and care: sister, Donna Pazzelli, sister-in-law, |
18 | | Carole Wiegel, and Matthew and Melissa Wiegel; and
|
19 | | WHEREAS, Jack Tierney was preceded in death by his wife, |
20 | | Beverly; and
|

2 | | Irene Tierney; brother to siblings Joseph (Jeanne), the late |
3 | | Raymond (Irene), Irene (Bob) McArdle, and Marian (Jim) |
4 | | Stockwell; proud father of John F. (Cheri), Michael (Kathy), |
5 | | Marilyn (Bill) Haugh, Patti (Chuck) Addesso, and Brian |
6 | | (Kathleen); grandfather of Colleen (Matt) Scarola, Michael |
7 | | John (Stephanie), Kevin (Shelby), Caitlin (Mathias) DeLacey, |
8 | | Shannon (Marty) Teresi, Sean (Laurel), Claire, Jackie Addesso, |
9 | | and Michael (Debby) Robertson; great-grandfather to Benjamin, |
10 | | Olivia, Micaela, Reagan, Oliver, Lydia, Madelyn, Nora, Drew, |
11 | | and Dylan; fond brother-in-law of Joseph (Jeanne) Basso, John |
12 | | (Sharon) Basso, and the late Carl (Sylvia) Plumery; he was a |
13 | | devoted uncle and great-uncle to many; therefore, be it

14 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL |
15 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of |
16 | | John T. "Jack" Tierney, and extend our sincere condolences to |
17 | | his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it |
18 | | further

19 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be |
20 | | presented to the family of Jack Tierney as an expression of our |
21 | | deepest sympathy.
