2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to |
3 | | learn of the death of James Policandriotes of Joliet, who |
4 | | passed away on January 14, 2018; and
|
5 | | WHEREAS, Jim Policandriotes was born in Joliet to Marion |
6 | | (Franciskovich) and John Policandriotes on November 26, 1930; |
7 | | he graduated from Joliet Township High School in 1949; and
|
8 | | WHEREAS, Jim Policandriotes was a veteran of the United |
9 | | States Air Force and proudly served his country during the |
10 | | Korean War; and
|
11 | | WHEREAS, Jim Policandriotes opened the Polley Speed Shop in |
12 | | the back yard of his family home 56 years ago; after a few |
13 | | years, the shop relocated to a garage and sometime later |
14 | | expanded to accommodate the growing customer base; the |
15 | | present-day shop, "Polley's Garage" is operated by the second |
16 | | generation under the same parameters he first envisioned; and
|
17 | | WHEREAS, Jim Policandriotes was a member of St. Mary |
18 | | Nativity Catholic Church, of which his paternal grandparents |
19 | | were one of the forty founding families of the Croatian Parish |
20 | | in Joliet; he was also a Shriner with the Medinah Temple, where |
21 | | he served as president in 1997, a member of the Mykonos |

1 | | Society, Ahepa, American Legion Post #1080, and the Irish |
2 | | American Society of County Will; he also very much enjoyed |
3 | | Sundays at the Croatian Cultural Club with his wife; and
|
4 | | WHEREAS, Jim Policandriotes was preceded in death by his |
5 | | parents; and his brother, Theodore Policandriotes; and
|
6 | | WHEREAS, Jim Policandriotes is survived by his wife of 61 |
7 | | years, Patsy; his children, John (Lori, companion) |
8 | | Policandriotes, Gregory (Lynn) Policandriotes, Athena (George) |
9 | | Leimann, Timothy Policandriotes, and Patricia (Tom) Pritchard; |
10 | | his seven grandchildren; his great-grandchild; his sister, |
11 | | Virginia (Steven) Cioce; his niece and nephew, and his best |
12 | | friend and canine companion, Tito; therefore, be it
|
13 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL |
14 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of |
15 | | James Policandriotes and extend our sincere condolences to his |
16 | | family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it |
17 | | further

18 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be |
19 | | presented to the family of Jim Policandriotes as an expression |
20 | | of our deepest sympathy.
