2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to |
3 | | learn of the death of John D. Hoppe of rural Danvers, who |
4 | | passed away on January 23, 2018; and
|
5 | | WHEREAS, John Hoppe was born in Lima, Ohio to George and |
6 | | Mary K. Sweeney Hoppe on November 4, 1940; he graduated from |
7 | | Trinity High School and Illinois State University; and
|
8 | | WHEREAS, John Hoppe worked for Eureka-Williams for 34 |
9 | | years, attaining the position of vice president of |
10 | | international sales and marketing; and
|
11 | | WHEREAS, After an early retirement, John Hoppe chose a |
12 | | quiet life in the countryside; he often enjoyed time on his |
13 | | tractor and sitting by his pond, which he called his "church"; |
14 | | he was a big fan of Illinois State University Redbird |
15 | | Athletics; he played baseball during his time there and had |
16 | | reserved seats to their basketball games for many years; and
|
17 | | WHEREAS, John Hoppe married the love of his life, Sandy |
18 | | Shepherd Hoppe, his best friend and soulmate for 42 years; he |
19 | | was the father of two daughters, Michelle Hoppe and Kelley |
20 | | Hoppe (Troy) Wickenhauser, and a son, Sean Hoppe; he often |
21 | | spoke of his amazing grandchildren, Cody (Kelsey) |
