2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | ||||||
3 | learn of the death of Evelyn M. Hart, who passed away on | ||||||
4 | January 20, 2018; and
| ||||||
5 | WHEREAS, Evelyn Hart was born on Seneca Ridge Farm, her | ||||||
6 | family's farm on Perkins Road in McHenry County, to August and | ||||||
7 | Helena (Stake) Gerloff on January 3, 1924; she was baptized and | ||||||
8 | confirmed at St. John's Lutheran Church; she attended Pleasant | ||||||
9 | Ridge School and graduated from Woodstock High School in 1941; | ||||||
10 | at graduation, she received the American Legion Award based on | ||||||
11 | courage, honor, service, leadership, and scholarship; she also | ||||||
12 | received a scholarship to Northern Illinois State Teachers | ||||||
13 | College in DeKalb, where she earned her teaching degree in | ||||||
14 | rural education in 1943; she married Raymond J. Hart at St. | ||||||
15 | John's on August 31, 1946; and
| ||||||
16 | WHEREAS, After graduation, Evelyn Hart taught at Reed | ||||||
17 | School and then Greenwood School in Woodstock; she then worked | ||||||
18 | as the engineering secretary at Woodstock Die Casting and its | ||||||
19 | predecessors until her retirement in 1989; and
| ||||||
20 | WHEREAS, Evelyn Hart was a lifelong member of St. John's | ||||||
21 | Lutheran church, where she served as a Sunday School teacher, | ||||||
22 | in the hand bell choir, and on various committees; during her |

1 | retirement, she enjoyed traveling, especially her many trips | ||||||
2 | with the Fun Timers, as well as a trip to England; she attended | ||||||
3 | many of the Creative Living Series and summer music concerts in | ||||||
4 | the city park; she was a longtime member of the Seneca Ladies | ||||||
5 | Literary Society and enjoyed her time at Hearthstone Manor, | ||||||
6 | where she moved in 2010; and
| ||||||
7 | WHEREAS, Evelyn Hart was preceded in death by her husband, | ||||||
8 | Ray; her parents; her brother, Robert Gerloff; and her sister, | ||||||
9 | Ruth Hemmingsen Case; and
| ||||||
10 | WHEREAS, Evelyn Hart is survived by her children, Daniel | ||||||
11 | (Linda Proudfit) Hart, Sharon (Glen) Richgels, and Sandra | ||||||
12 | (John) Hallman; her grandchildren, Amber (Josh) Severson, Erin | ||||||
13 | Richgels, Erik, (Anna Lea) Richgels, Jason (Kristin) Hallman, | ||||||
14 | Adam Hallman, and Briana (Chad Keller) Hallman; her six | ||||||
15 | great-grandchildren; and her many nieces and nephews; | ||||||
16 | therefore, be it

17 | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL | ||||||
18 | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | ||||||
19 | Evelyn M. Hart and extend our sincere condolences to her | ||||||
20 | family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it | ||||||
21 | further

22 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be |
