| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to |
| 3 | | learn of the death of Douglas K. "Doug" Hanson of Bloomington, |
| 4 | | who passed away on February 16, 2018; and
|
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Doug Hanson was born in Bloomington to Howland and |
| 6 | | Ruby (Nafziger) Hanson on April 25, 1933; he graduated from |
| 7 | | Stanford High School; he attended Illinois State Normal |
| 8 | | University and graduated from the University of Illinois with a |
| 9 | | bachelor's degree in agriculture education; he married Andrea |
| 10 | | Moore at the Stanford Presbyterian Church in Stanford on June |
| 11 | | 7, 1953 and served in the U.S. Army from 1955 to 1957; and
|
| 12 | | WHEREAS, Doug Hanson worked as a district manager for Funk |
| 13 | | Seeds and Northrup King Seeds, later known as Syngenta Seed |
| 14 | | Company; he also worked as an Insurance Agent for Country |
| 15 | | Companies; in 1974, he and Andrea opened "One Hour |
| 16 | | Martinizing", later known as Hanson's Cleaners; after retiring |
| 17 | | from the agriculture industry, he remained active, working |
| 18 | | alongside his sons at Hanson's Cleaners until its closing after |
| 19 | | 42 years; and
|
| 20 | | WHEREAS, Doug Hanson was a member of the Second |
| 21 | | Presbyterian Church of Bloomington, where he served as an Elder |
| 22 | | and sang in the choir for over 50+ years; he was a member of the |
|

| 1 | | Masons and the AARP Farm Bureau; he was an avid University of |
| 2 | | Illinois fan and a lifetime member of the Ilini Booster Club; |
| 3 | | and

| 4 | | WHEREAS, Doug Hanson was preceded in death by his parents; |
| 5 | | one brother; one sister; and a grandson; and
|
| 6 | | WHEREAS, Doug Hanson is survived by his wife of 64 years, |
| 7 | | Andrea; his children, Shelley (Bob) Hanson Loy, John (Cheryl) |
| 8 | | Hanson, and Joe (Leslie) Hanson; his grandchildren, Wendy |
| 9 | | (Paul) Schiaras, Patrick (Lisa) Reed, Sislye (Keith) Crow, |
| 10 | | Andrea Soper, Andrew Loy, Amy (Greg) Demas, Allison (Chris) |
| 11 | | Maute, Eddie (Jackie) Hanson, Ben Hanson, Emily (Brix) Byers, |
| 12 | | Abbey (Dan Zummo) Hanson, Jacob Hanson, and Connor Hanson; |
| 13 | | seven great-grandchildren; his special niece, Teri (Steve) |
| 14 | | Parker; his nephews, Rod Walker, Steve (Vanessa) Walker, and |
| 15 | | Randy (Mary) Walker: and his brother-in-law, Don Walker; |
| 16 | | therefore, be it

| 17 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL |
| 18 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of |
| 19 | | Douglas K. "Doug" Hanson, and extend our sincere condolences to |
| 20 | | his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it |
