SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Eileen Sekera LaSorba, who passed away on
4January 24, 2018; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Eileen LaSorba was born in Chicago to George and
6Ethel Sekera on February 27, 1933; she graduated from Northern
7Illinois University and while carpooling to save money,
8developed a friendship with Jill Dial that lasted 50 years; she
9married John LaSorba in 1979; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Eileen LaSorba was a fifth grade teacher at
11Wauconda Grade School, where she made her students excited
12about school by incorporating Picnic Days for perfect weekly
13attendance and Costume Days to teach history; and
 
14    WHEREAS, Eileen enjoyed traveling, on her own, with her
15daughters, and with her grandchildren; she toured the pyramids
16of Egypt, walked the Great Wall of China, cruised the Amazon
17Rivera, and scuba dived in Australia's Great Barrier Reef; she
18took pride in her garden, loved to sew, knit, and crochet,
19played Bridge, and loved Opera; she enjoyed collecting dolls,
20and her collection included more than 100 pieces; and
 
21    WHEREAS, Eileen LaSorba is survived by her daughters, Karen

1Degner, Susan Kottke, and Diane Wheeler; her sister, Jean
2Sekera; her brother, George Sekera; her sister-in-law, Celeste
3Sekera; her eight grandchildren; and her five
4great-grandchildren; therefore, be it
 
5    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL
6ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
7Eileen Sekera LaSorba and extend our sincere condolences to her
8family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it
9further
 
10    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
11presented to the family of Eileen LaSorba as an expression of
12our deepest sympathy.
