4 | | WHEREAS, Jerome Johnson was born to Milton P. and Katherine

5 | | Goolsby Johnson on November 25, 1946; he attended Kozminski |
6 | | Elementary School and Hyde Park High School; he served in the |
7 | | United States Army in Vietnam, where he
achieved the rank of |
8 | | 1st Lieutenant and served as commanding officer of his platoon; |
9 | | his leadership
was widely publicized by former United States |
10 | | Senator and Secretary of Defense, Charles Hagel,
who served |
11 | | under Jerome; he earned two Silver Stars for his service; he |
12 | | married Laura Meriweather on September 6, 1969; and
|
13 | | WHEREAS, Jerome Johnson retired from Commonwealth Edison |
14 | | and embarked on a second career as a funeral director; and

15 | | WHEREAS, Jerome Johnson was affectionately known as |
16 | | "Rome"; he was a part-time comedian, part-time biblical
|
17 | | scholar, part-time philosopher, and full-time man of leisure; |

19 | | WHEREAS, Jerome Johnson was preceded in death by his |
20 | | parents; his mother-in-love,
