AMENDMENT TO SENATE RESOLUTION 1534 


2    AMENDMENT NO. ___.  Amend Senate Resolution 1534 by 
3replacing everything after the heading with the following:
 
4    "WHEREAS, The State of Illinois has become a major center

5for energy production and storage in the United States; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Illinois stores the second highest amount of

7natural gas in the United States; and
 
8    WHEREAS, The Illinois Department of Natural Resources 
9through the Office of Oil and Gas Resource Management regulates 
10oil and gas production well operations in the State; and
 
11    WHEREAS, The safety of Illinois residents is a priority for

12the Illinois Department of Natural Resources when developing 
13new
regulations; therefore, be it

1    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL

2ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that the Illinois Department 
3of
Natural Resources shall compile a report reviewing the 
4current
regulations for gas well operations in Illinois and 
5make
recommendations for changes of those regulations to 
6improve
public safety; and be it further
 
7    RESOLVED, That the report shall include a review of the

8regulations applicable to gas extraction, as well as

9underground gas storage; and be it further
 
10    RESOLVED, That this report shall be sent to the Senate

11President and Senate Minority Leader, the Speaker of the House

12and House Minority Leader, and the Office of the Governor, no

13later than December 31, 2018; and be it further
 
14    RESOLVED, That the report filed with the General Assembly 
15shall be filed with the Secretary of the Senate  and the Clerk 
16of the House of Representatives in electronic form only, in the 
17manner that the Secretary and Clerk shall direct."
