SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Darrell Lee Mansfield of White Hall, who passed away on March 19, 2018; and

WHEREAS, Darrell Mansfield was born in Scottville to Coy Hicks and Ruth Marie (Marsh) Mansfield on August 11, 1932; he graduated from White Hall High School in 1950; he earned a degree in Animal Husbandry from the University of Missouri in 1954, where he was a member of the Alpha Gamma Rho Fraternity; he married Nancy Griswold in 1956; he later married Jo Ann Cosgriff in 1963; and

WHEREAS, Darrell Mansfield worked in grain and livestock farming; he spent three years in Roswell, New Mexico managing the feedlot for Glover Meat Packing; he then returned to White Hall to farm with his father; he expanded the farming operation and was eventually joined by his son; he loved to farm and especially enjoyed his herd of Texas Longhorns; he actively managed the farm until his death; and

WHEREAS, Darrell Mansfield was a lifetime supporter of the Shriner organization; he was a member of White Hall Lodge #80 AF & AM, the Scottish Rite-Valley of Springfield, the Ansar Shrine, the Rasna Shrine Club, and the Ansar Tin Lizzies Shrine Unit; he was seen driving in the Tin Lizzie unit in many parades and had currently been serving as Captain; he was the Honorary Ringmaster at the Shrine Circus in 2011 and was named "Shriner of the Year" in 2008; he proudly hosted a pig roast every September which generated thousands of dollars for the Shriner's Hospital for Children in St. Louis; he served on the North Greene School Board; he enjoyed going to antique auctions, traveling, watching his grandchildren in their various activities, and socializing with friends; and

WHEREAS, Darrell Mansfield was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Donald Alonzo; and

WHEREAS, Darrell Mansfield is survived by his wife, Jo Ann; his children, Julie (Tim) King, Lon (Debbie) Mansfield, and Lea Ann (Steve) Brannan; his grandchildren, Andrew, John (Mary), Daniel, and Matthew (Maddie) King, Joe and Brooke Brannan, and Keaten Mansfield; his step-grandson, Jordan (Chrissy) Walters; his great-grandchildren, Carter and Claire King; and his two step-great-grandchildren, Alex and Tannin Walters; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Darrell Lee Mansfield and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Darrell Mansfield as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
