SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Arbutus Dale "Arb" Swanson of Wauconda, who passed away on March 24, 2018; and

WHEREAS, Arb Swanson was born in a house on Main Street in Wauconda to Harry Lee and Isabelle Alice (Geary) Grantham on May 16, 1919; she grew up in a multi-generational household, always living with or next door to her paternal grandparents; she graduated from Wauconda High School in 1937 and married Edward Claus Swanson in Port Washington, Wisconsin on September 18, 1939; and

WHEREAS, Arb Swanson was a fixture of Wauconda; she was the recipient of Wauconda's Mayor's Community Service Award in 2006; her many years of community service included volunteering for the Salvation Army's Donut Day, Easter Seals, Poppy Days/American Legion, the March of Dimes, the American Cancer Society, the Wauconda Care Center Nursing Home, the Girls Scouts of America, the Wauconda Seniors Club, and the Federated Church of Wauconda; and

WHEREAS, Arb Swanson lived a life dedicated to her family, her church, her community, and the service of others; and

WHEREAS, Arb Swanson was the beloved wife of the late Edward; the loving mother of Dale Buttolph, Lawrence (Patricia), Sue (Josh) Ragland, Brian, Lisa Knight, and the late Edward Jay (Marilyn); the cherished grandmother of 19; the proud great-grandmother of 25; the great-great-grandmother of one; the dear sister of the late Udell H. Grantham, Audrey Staggs, and Ardath Becknell; the fond aunt and great-aunt of many; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Arbutus Dale "Arb" Swanson and extend our sincere condolences to her family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Arb Swanson as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
