| 2 | | WHEREAS, Laudato Si', the groundbreaking encyclical by |
| 3 | | Pope Francis written in 2015, is devoted to the care of our |
| 4 | | common home and offers important teachings for all Illinoisans |
| 5 | | to read and reflect upon as policies are developed to address |
| 6 | | serious challenges in our environment; and
|
| 7 | | WHEREAS, The encyclical notes that with these challenges, |
| 8 | | we are faced with one crisis that is both social and |
| 9 | | environmental; solutions to this crisis require an integrated |
| 10 | | approach that focuses on both the person and nature; and
|
| 11 | | WHEREAS, Laudato Si' reminds all of us, including |
| 12 | | government leaders, of our moral responsibility to care for our |
| 13 | | common home; therefore, be it
|
| 14 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL |
| 15 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that the members of the |
| 16 | | General Assembly come together in a bipartisan manner to |
| 17 | | discuss and develop just policies for the State of Illinois |
| 18 | | that consider both our environmental and social systems in |
| 19 | | addressing the various issues that affect our common home.
