2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to |
3 | | learn of the death of John H. Giesler of Mason City, who passed |
4 | | away on April 13, 2018; and
|
5 | | WHEREAS, John Giesler was born in Shelbyville to Glen W. |
6 | | and Lela Caroline (Noffke) Giesler on December 22, 1952; he |
7 | | married Mardell Habing-Thomas in Shelbyville on June 20, 1980; |
8 | | and
|
9 | | WHEREAS, John Giesler was a former teacher and coach at |
10 | | Trinity Lutheran School in Stewardson, Stewardson-Strasburg |
11 | | High School, Roanoke-Benson High School, and Illini Central |
12 | | High School in Mason City until his retirement in 2014; he |
13 | | later was an assistant basketball coach at Lincoln College in |
14 | | 2015 and 2016; he coached baseball, golf, softball, and |
15 | | basketball; he led the 2012 Illini Central High School Cougars |
16 | | basketball team to a 3rd place Class 1A state finish and the |
17 | | 2013 Illini Central High School Cougars basketball team to the |
18 | | Class 1A State Championship; in 2018, he was inducted into the |
19 | | Illinois Basketball Coaches Association Hall of Fame; and
|
20 | | WHEREAS, John Giesler was a member of Christ Lutheran |
21 | | Church in Mason City; and
