SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Glenn A. Wells of Rock Island, who passed away on April 18, 2018; and

WHEREAS, Glenn Wells was born in Rock Island to Glenn Thaddeus and Ruth Christine Weigand Wells on September 9, 1932; he graduated from Alleman High School in Rock Island and received his associate's degree in engineering and labor relations from Black Hawk College; he served in the United States Air Force and married Mary Helene Mart in Rock Island on June 8, 1957; and

WHEREAS, Glenn Wells worked for many years at TriCity Blueprint in Moline; he founded and retired from Quad City Reprographics; and

WHEREAS, Glenn Wells was a member of St. Pius X Catholic Church in Rock Island, where he served as a Eucharistic Minister; he was a member and former Grand Knight of Allouez Council 658, Knights of Columbus and Father Edward J. Bader Assembly Fourth Degree Knights of Columbus, where he served as Faithful Navigator; he was recognized as a Knight of Knights by the Peoria Diocese Knights of Columbus; other memberships include former president of the Moline Exchange Club, Moline American Legion Post 246, Moose International, and Friends of the Rock Island Library; and

WHEREAS, Glenn Wells was a volunteer for many years with the Retired and Senior Volunteer Program, John Deere Golf Classic, Birdies for Charity, Junior Achievement, and the Moline Activity Center, where he taught computer classes; and

WHEREAS, Glenn Wells and his wife welcomed several foster children into their home; he loved spending time with his family and friends; in his earlier years, he coached youth basketball and sports teams, and enjoyed bowling in area leagues; he was an avid golfer and Green Bay Packers fan; and

WHEREAS, Glenn Wells was preceded in death by his parents; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Dale and Loretta Mart; his brothers-in-law, Raymond Welvaert, Francis "Bud" Fobert, and Richard Guise; and his sister-in-law, Nellie Wells; and

WHEREAS, Glenn Wells is survived by his wife, Mary; his children, Paul Wells, Lisa Wells, Laurie (Robert) Potratz, Mark (Theresa) Wells, Kristy (Robert) Meyers, and David (Miranda) Wells; his special daughter, Mary Bateman; his grandchildren, Adam (Cara) Wells, Alec Wells, Alyssa Meyers, Hannah Meyers, Meghan Wells, Nathan Wells, Jason Wells, and Grace Potratz; his great-grandchildren, Clayton and Emmitt; his sisters, Shirley Welvaert, Joan Guise, and Patricia (Joseph) DePover; his brother, Raymond Wells; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other family; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Glenn A. Wells, and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Glenn Wells as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
