SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Everett L. Kuhn of Woodstock, who passed
4away on March 26, 2018 at the age of 102; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Everett Kuhn was born to Joseph and Vena Smith
6Kuhn on May 9, 1915 and was raised in the farm country near
7Richmond; he married Frances, former Mayor of Woodstock, in
81933; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Everett Kuhn built and overhauled cars before he
10finished high school; he worked for the State of Illinois,
11starting as a surveyor and eventually doing bridge and building
12engineering; he worked for the Kraft Foods Company in their
13engineering department which took him all over the U.S. and to
14the Panama Canal, supervising new construction and renovation
15of acquired food manufacturing facilities; he attended college
16at night and retired as Manager of Building Operations; and
 
17    WHEREAS, Everett Kuhn had a lifelong love of classic cars;
18he and Frances enjoyed time at their vacation home in Vermont
19that they built in 1969; in 1987, they became "snowbirds" when
20they purchased a home on Marco Island, Florida; and
 
21    WHEREAS, Everett Kuhn was preceded in death by his parents;

1his first wife, Frances; and his sons, Richard "Dick" and Lynn;
2and
 
3    WHEREAS, Everett Kuhn is survived by his life partner of
4over 27 years, Lois Nelson; his daughter, Barbara "Cookie"
5(John) Seagrist; his daughter-in-law, Sharon Kuhn; six
6grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; a sister; two brothers;
7two nieces; and four nephews; therefore, be it
 
8    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL
9ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
10Everett L. Kuhn, and extend our sincere condolences to his
11family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
12further
 
13    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
14presented to the family of Everett Kuhn as an expression of our
15deepest sympathy.
