SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Clyde J. Jones of Franklin, who passed away on February 24, 2018; and

WHEREAS, Clyde Jones was born in Wilton Center to Marshall Hall and Edith Ema Elizabeth Schroeder Jones on February 8, 1925; he graduated from Joliet Central High School; he served as a navigator in the United States Air Force During World War II; he married Geraldine "Jerry" V. Good in Joliet on December 22, 1946; and

WHEREAS, Clyde Jones and his wife owned and operated Fitzer's Frostie Ice Cream Stand during the summers in Joliet for several years; during the winter season, he built homes; and

WHEREAS, After retiring, Clyde Jones and his wife moved to Lake Isabella, California, where he continued to build houses; they later returned to Illinois to be closer to their children; he was a member of the Church of Christ in Lake Isabella, California and the Herrin Church of Christ in Herrin, Illinois; and

WHEREAS, Clyde Jones was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Jerry; his sister, Alice Pettys; and his brother, Carey Jones; and

WHEREAS, Clyde Jones is survived by his children, Jackie Godfrey and Patti (Paul) Turpin; his grandchildren, Shirene (Dustin) Garner and Paul Jon (Ashley) Turpin; his great-grandchildren, Avery, Ryker, Elliott, and Hadley; his sister, Martha Mealey; and his many nieces and nephews; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Clyde J. Jones and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Clyde Jones as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
