SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Arthur "Boody" Young Sr. of Decatur, who
4passed away on April 18, 2018; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Arthur Young was born in Michigan City,
6Mississippi to Ike and Ola (Hunt) Young on April 24, 1925; he
7later moved to Brownsville, Tennessee and then to Decatur; he
8married Lucille Walker on August 24, 1944; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Arthur Young worked at the Wagner Casting Company
10for over 25 years; and
 
11    WHEREAS, After his retirement, Arthur Young enjoyed being a
12handyman around his home, as well as in the homes of others; he
13was a member of Community Temple Church of God in Christ and
14then House of Miracles Pentecostal Church; and
 
15    WHEREAS, Arthur Young was preceded in death by his parents;
16his wife of 65 years, Lucille; his daughter, Brenda Young; his
17sons, Dennis and Freddie T. Young; his sisters, Melverta Bond
18and Lue Bertha Hawkins; his brothers, Mack, Charlie, and Frank
19Young; his father-in-law, Nathan Walker; his mother-in-law,
20Fannie Walker; his sister-in-law, Francis Young; and his
21brothers-in-law, John D. Pirtle, Eldridge Taylor, Bates Bond,

1and Jimmy Hellum; and
 
2    WHEREAS, Arthur Young is survived by his sons, Arthur
3(Alma) Jr., Leon (Shirley), Charles (Crystal), Bobby
4(Barbara), and Bryain Young; his daughters, Joyce (Ernest)
5Walker, Cheryl Dampeer, and Melverta (Tony) Wilkins; his
6sister, Jo Anna Hellum; his brother, Fred "Pistol" (Dorothy)
7Young; his sisters-in-law, Callie Taylor, Vunner Pirtle, Ruby
8D. Young, and Lee Oper Young; 33 grandchildren; 66
9great-grandchildren; 26 great-great-grandchildren; and
10numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends; therefore, be
11it
 
12    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL
13ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
14Arthur "Boody" Young Sr., and extend our sincere condolences to
15his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
16further
 
17    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
18presented to the family of Arthur Young as an expression of our
19deepest sympathy.
