| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to |
| 3 | | learn of the death of Richard S. Anderson; and
|
| 4 | | WHEREAS, Richard Anderson was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin |
| 5 | | to John W. and Gertrude (Hewey) Anderson on June 6, 1925; he |
| 6 | | attended Galesburg High School; he married Florence Nemec on |
| 7 | | February 1, 1948; and
|
| 8 | | WHEREAS, Richard Anderson joined the U.S. Marines and |
| 9 | | completed basic training in Southern California, which |
| 10 | | included long forced marches; he was a corporal scout sniper, |
| 11 | | with automatic rifleman; he was one of two survivors out of 240 |
| 12 | | to make it back from the first assault on Betio-Tarawa in the |
| 13 | | Gilbert Islands; and
|
| 14 | | WHEREAS, Richard Anderson settled in Chicago and was a |
| 15 | | master stair builder for Cooper Stair Co.; he installed stairs |
| 16 | | in some of the state capitals and governor's mansions; he also |
| 17 | | served on the Prairie Grove Village Board; and
|
| 18 | | WHEREAS, Richard Anderson is survived by his wife, |
| 19 | | Florence, and his niece, Karen Terhune; therefore, be it
|
| 20 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL |
