2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to |
3 | | learn of the death of Joseph H. "Joe" Van Hecke of Rock Island, |
4 | | who passed away on April 29, 2018; and
|
5 | | WHEREAS, Joe Van Hecke was born in Moline to Paul and |
6 | | Justina (Hershop) Van Hecke on June 10, 1925; he married Martha |
7 | | Veeder at St. Mary's Rectory in Moline on June 9, 1947; and
|
8 | | WHEREAS, Joe Van Hecke was a veteran of the United States |
9 | | Navy, where he served as a torpedoman in the Submarine Corps |
10 | | and later as a corpsman with a Marine division; he worked as a |
11 | | mail carrier for the United States Postal Service for 33 years |
12 | | and retired in 1982; and
|
13 | | WHEREAS, Joe Van Hecke was a member of St. Mary's Catholic |
14 | | Church in Rock Island; he enjoyed golfing, carpentry work, and |
15 | | watching the Chicago Cubs; and
|
16 | | WHEREAS, Joe Van Hecke was preceded in death by his |
17 | | sisters, Madeline Van DenHende, Germaine Tanghe, and Irene De |
18 | | Wilde; and
|
19 | | WHEREAS, Joe Van Hecke is survived by his wife, Martha; his |
20 | | daughter, Cyndy Anderson; his grandson, Scott (Andrea) |
