SENATE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to 
3learn of the death of Stephen Michael "Steve" Kelly of Park 
4City, who passed away on April 23, 2018; and
  
 
5    WHEREAS, Steve Kelly was born in Council Bluffs, Iowa to 
6Joseph and Theresa Kelly on June 26, 1948; he enlisted in the 
7United States Marine Corps in 1967 and served in the Vietnam 
8War before leaving the USMC in 1970; and
  
 
9    WHEREAS, Steve Kelly joined the police department in 
10Waukegan and served the city for 29 years before he retired in 
112000; and
  
 
12    WHEREAS, Steve Kelly was an active member of the Fraternal 
13Order of Police, The Emerald Society, and The Marine Corps 
14League 801; and
  
 
15    WHEREAS, Steve Kelly was preceded in death by his parents; 
16his brothers, Kevin and Shawn; his son, Brendan; and his 
17granddaughter, Alyssa; and
  
 
18    WHEREAS, Steve Kelly is survived by his wife, Arlene Johns; 
19his children, Erin (Tom) Gaines, Shane (Amy) Kelly, Ryan 
20(Julie) Kelly, and Kasey (John Alford) Kelly; his stepdaughter,

1Joylene (Jerro) Masanque; his grandchildren, Mathias, 
2Mitchell, Nathaniel, Merrick, Jordan, Tatyana, Brigid, Gwen, 
3Charlotte, Quinn, Bennett, Brennan, Janine, Juliane, and 
4Miguel; his sisters, Colleen, Maureen, Mary, Loretta, 
5Kathleen, and their spouses; and his many nieces, nephews, and 
6friends; therefore, be it
  
 
7    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL 
8ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of 
9Stephen Michael "Steve" Kelly and extend our sincere 
10condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved 
11him; and be it further
  
 
12    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
13presented to the family of Steve Kelly as an expression of our 
14deepest sympathy.
