| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to |
| 3 | | learn of the death of Laura K. Girton of Oakwood, who passed |
| 4 | | away on May 24, 2018; and
|
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Laura Girton was born in Erie, Pennsylvania to |
| 6 | | Louis J. and Nancy (Munz) Gizoli on October 13, 1966; she |
| 7 | | graduated from McDowell High School and earned her bachelor's |
| 8 | | degree in education from Penn State University in 1988; she |
| 9 | | received her master's degree in education administration from |
| 10 | | Eastern Illinois University in 2002; and
|
| 11 | | WHEREAS, Laura Girton started her career at |
| 12 | | Bismarck-Henning Elementary School in 1994; she spent 12 years |
| 13 | | as a 1st grade teacher, and the last 12 as principal; she spent |
| 14 | | countless hours searching for new and innovative ways to make |
| 15 | | the school day more enjoyable and productive for the students |
| 16 | | and staff; she started the Mileage Club, Lunch on the Lawn, |
| 17 | | Principal Pals, and family involvement nights; and
|
| 18 | | WHEREAS, Laura Girton never missed an opportunity to root |
| 19 | | on Penn State football and Cardinals baseball; her greatest joy |
| 20 | | was being in the stands cheering on Zack and Kyle at all of |
| 21 | | their events; she also looked forward to the annual gathering |
| 22 | | of her extended family at her parents' lake home; and
