| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to |
| 3 | | learn of the death of Ruthie Dell Fairchild, who passed away on |
| 4 | | May 22, 2018 at the age of 71; and
|
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Ruthie Fairchild was born in Ackerman, |
| 6 | | Mississippi to Joseph and Esther (Brown) Fairchild on August |
| 7 | | 21, 1946; she graduated from high school as valedictorian at |
| 8 | | the age of 16; she received her associate's degree from Clinton |
| 9 | | Community College and her bachelor's degree from Mount St. |
| 10 | | Clair; and
|
| 11 | | WHEREAS, Ruthie Fairchild was a community activist; she was |
| 12 | | involved with the Lead Like Jesus Program, a prison and family |
| 13 | | ministry in the jail system, the Buddy House at Blackhawks |
| 14 | | Courts Farm, and the Patriots Gateway Community Center; she was |
| 15 | | the coordinator of the Zion Outreach for over 20 years; and
|
| 16 | | WHEREAS, Ruthie Fairchild is survived by her son, Edward |
| 17 | | Jerome Williams; her daughter, Malika (Wilson) Miller; her |
| 18 | | extended children, Cassandra Jackson, LaNette Williams, and |
| 19 | | LaMonte Williams; her brothers, Jerome Fairchild, Willie |
| 20 | | (Julia) Hughes, Malik (Roshelle) Lee, and Joseph (Marclene) |
| 21 | | Robinson; and her sisters, Ernestine Fairchild and Annette |
| 22 | | Jones; therefore, be it
