SENATE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to 
3learn of the death of Richard Mikyska of Marengo, formerly of 
4Naperville, who passed away on May 19, 2018; and
  
 
5    WHEREAS, Richard Mikyska was a veteran of the United States 
6Army; he graduated from the University of Illinois College of 
7Pharmacy, where he was a member of the Kappa Psi Pharmaceutical 
8Fraternity; and
  
 
9    WHEREAS, Richard Mikyska was a retired pharmacist and owner 
10of Brandt Pharmacy in Marengo; and
  
 
11    WHEREAS, Richard Mikyska was a member of the Riverside 
12Masonic Lodge, Medinah Shriners and the Scottish Rite, Valley 
13of Chicago for 51 years; he was the past president of the 
14Marengo Chamber of Commerce and the co-founder of the Marengo 
15Settlers Days; he was a member of the Marengo Lions Club; he 
16enjoyed outdoor activities, fishing, reading, and painting; 
17and
  
 
18    WHEREAS, Richard Mikyska was preceded in death by his 
19brother, Glen; and
  
 
20    WHEREAS, Richard Mikyska is survived by his wife, Maureen;

1his children, Robert (Sarah) Mikyska and Brenda (Jay) Courtney; 
2and his grandchildren, Jonathan and Jack Courtney; therefore, 
3be it
  
 
4    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL 
5ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of 
6Richard Mikyska and extend our sincere condolences to his 
7family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it 
8further
  
 
9    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
10presented to the family of Richard Mikyska as an expression of 
11our deepest sympathy.
