SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Glen Franklin Fringer, who passed away on May 29, 2018; and

WHEREAS, Glen Fringer was born in Tower Hill to Lula and Charles Fringer on July 20, 1920; he served in the United States Army during World War II and was stationed in the Philippines; he married Joyce Mason on June 7, 1941; and

WHEREAS, Glen Fringer worked at Woodstock Die Casting until his retirement at the age of 60; and

WHEREAS, Glen Fringer was a talented carpenter and handyman; he built his first two homes and kept busy helping many in the Woodstock area; he was a fixture at Uncle Dan's restaurant in Woodstock, owned by his daughter, Sandy, and son-in-law, Dan Terlikowski; he was a proud member of the Woodstock Moose Lodge, which he joined in November of 1946; he worked tirelessly supporting the lodge, as a handyman, Bingo caller, turkey carver, and doing any other job that needed doing; he was a past governor and attained the rank of Pilgrim, one of his proudest achievements; he was also the lodge's oldest and longest-serving member; and

WHEREAS, Glen Fringer participated in an Honor Flight to Washington, D.C. in August of 2012 with his grandson, Nathaniel; he and Joyce were active members of the Woodstock Woodchucks Camping Club for many years; they enjoyed traveling in their RV and camping locally, often including their grandchildren; Glen enjoyed Cribbage and Pegs and fishing; and

WHEREAS, Glen Fringer was preceded in death by his wife of 64 years, Joyce; his son, Jerry; his daughter, Sandy; his parents; his daughter-in-law, Sandy; his son-in-law, Dan; and many siblings; and

WHEREAS, Glen Fringer is survived by his daughter, Cindy (Chris) Burns; his son, Ron; his daughter-in-law, Luanne (Fringer); his sibling, Jean (Vanlue); his grandsons, Kevin (Justine), Patrick, Nathaniel (Sabrina), and Josh Burns; his granddaughters, Megan (Fringer) and Jenelle (Mike) Gilman; and his great-grandchildren, Kyle, Sierra, Caleb, Ethan, Zoe, Abby, Delaney, Molly, Charlie, and Vivian; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Glen Franklin Fringer, and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Glen Fringer as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
