SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Betty L. McShane of Waukegan, who passed
4away on June 1, 2018; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Betty McShane was born in Zion to Gladstone and
6Bertha Riehl on May 29, 1931; she graduated from Zion-Benton
7Township High School in 1948 and married Ed at the Christian
8Catholic Church in Zion on June 22, 1951; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Betty McShane worked for the law firm of Finn,
10Geiger & Rafferty from 1948 to 1972; she was also a
11professional photographer and enjoyed taking pictures of
12sunrises and nature; she won many blue ribbons, competitions,
13and art shows; and
 
14    WHEREAS, Betty McShane attended the First Congregational
15United Church of Christ of Waukegan for over 40 years and then
16the Memorial United Methodist Church in Zion for over 20 years,
17where she also served as treasurer for the Women's Fellowship;
18she was also an active member and treasurer of the Lake County
19Art League; and
 
20    WHEREAS, Betty McShane enjoyed peanut butter and bread,
21cooking, listening to bird songs, gardens, stargazing, reading

1the bible, and following the news; she was very generous and
2donated to a number of charitable organizations; she always
3remembered birthdays and sent handwritten cards to loved ones
4and friends; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Betty McShane was preceded in death by her
6parents; her husband of 64 years, Ed; and her in-laws, Edgar
7and Dorothy McShane; and
 
8    WHEREAS, Betty McShane is survived by her son, Larry
9McShane; her brother, Roger (Caroline) Riehl; her nieces,
10Bernadette and Lucinda; her nephew, Roger Jr.; and her cousins;
11therefore, be it
 
12    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL
13ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
14Betty L. McShane, and extend our sincere condolences to her
15family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it
16further
 
17    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
18presented to the family of Betty McShane as an expression of
19our deepest sympathy.
