SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of William A. "Bill" Wolf; and

WHEREAS, Bill Wolf was born in Rockford to CJ "Doc" and Mabel Frances Wolf on June 14, 1930; he graduated from Belvidere High School in 1947, where he was a member of the undefeated 1946 football team; he married Sara Tyson on April 26, 1952 and graduated from Lake Forest College shortly thereafter; he served in the U.S. Army and was stationed at Fort Bliss, El Paso, Texas; and

WHEREAS, Bill Wolf returned to Belvidere in 1954 and began working in the family automotive business, Wolf Chevrolet Sales Inc.; he became the dealer operator in August of 1962; he was involved with the Illinois Automobile Dealer Association (IADA), serving as board president in 1988, and the National Automobile Dealer Association (NADA), serving as the elected state of Illinois representative for 19 years; he received the Time Magazine Quality Dealer Award in 1993 and served on the Chevrolet National Dealer Council; and

WHEREAS, Bill Wolf was a founding member of the Boone County Conservation District and the Sister Cities Association; he served as Belvidere Chamber of Commerce president and received its Doctor of Civic Betterment Award in 2011; he served on the Boone County Board, where he took an active role in construction of the Belvidere Public Safety Building; he was an active IOU Club member for 64 years and a past president; and

WHEREAS, Bill Wolf was a lifelong member of St. James Catholic Church in Belvidere; he and Sara were active volunteers and enjoyed traveling with friends; and

WHEREAS, Bill Wolf was preceded in death by his wife of over 66 years, Sara; his parents; his son, Thomas; his grandson, David; and his sister, Susan; and

WHEREAS, Bill Wolf is survived by his children, John (Candy) Wolf, Michael (Joyce) Wolf, Callie (Jim) Marrs, and Chris (Norman White) Wolf; his grandchildren, Janna (Dan) Earley, Scott (Katie) Wolf, Nickolas (Sarah) Wolf, Joseph (Char) Wolf, Frank Wolf, Mitch Wolf, Matthew Wolf, Mary Wolf, Katie (JC) Fanning, Greg (Katie) Marrs, Lisa (John) Liebgott, Jeff (Kelly) Marrs, Stephen Wolf, Aaron Wolf, and Alex Wolf; his great-grandchildren, Alice Earley, Maeve Earley, Kendall Wolf, Kyle Wolf, Ethan Wolf, Kiley Fanning, Ally Fanning, Henry Marrs, Nora Marrs, Amelia Marrs, Evelyn Marrs, Sawyer Marrs, and Griffin Marrs; and his brother, Jack (Peggy) Wolf; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of William A. "Bill" Wolf, and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Bill Wolf as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
