SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of John M. Elliott Jr., who passed away on
4June 14, 2018; and
 
5    WHEREAS, John Elliott Jr. was born in Rockford to John Sr.
6and Myrtle (Wiles) Elliott on February 16, 1945; he graduated
7from Harlem High School, attended Rock Valley College, and
8served in the United States Air Force for four years; and
 
9    WHEREAS, John Elliott Jr. worked at Woodward from 1965
10until 2000; after an early retirement, he and his wife
11purchased the Dairy Depot, and he also began to work as a
12consultant for American Governor as a leading expert on
13hydraulic turbine controls; and
 
14    WHEREAS, John Elliott Jr. loved community service and
15worked as a volunteer firefighter for the Loves Park Volunteer
16Fire Department for over 20 years; he also served on the Boards
17for the Greater Rockford Airport Authority, Winnebago County,
18Harlem School, and the Salvation Army; he was a Trustee for the
19Village of Machesney Park, President of the Parks Chamber of
20Commerce, and a Booster of the Young at Heart Festival; and
 
21    WHEREAS, John Elliott Jr. was preceded in death by his

1parents; his nephew, Joel Redenius; and his mentor, John
2Krevel; and
 
3    WHEREAS, John Elliott Jr. is survived by his wife of 42
4years, Diane; his son, Steve Elliott; his stepdaughter, Tonya
5Lamia; his brother, Gary (Judi) Elliott; his sisters-in-law,
6Donna (Jim) Carlson and Carolyn Redenius; his nieces, Vera
7Adams, Cameo (Steve) Baehler, Amanda Carlson, Andrea (Tom)
8Farone, Kristin (Dean) Bice, and Dana (Mossy) Vaughn; his
9nephews, Greg (Shelley) Carlson and Donald Swagger; his
10great-nieces and great-nephews; his Dairy Depot Family; and his
11many wonderful family and friends; therefore, be it
 
12    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL
13ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
14John M. Elliott Jr. and extend our sincere condolences to his
15family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
16further
 
17    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
18presented to the family of John Elliott Jr. as an expression of
19our deepest sympathy.
